A temporary exhibition at the Roullier Endowment Fund
“The Water That Binds Us” is a temporary art exhibition on view from June 30 to September 12, 2025, at the Roullier Endowment Fund. It is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Guided tours of the exhibition are also available, by registration, every Wednesday in July and August from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Roullier Endowment Fund has chosen the water cycle as the theme for its first temporary exhibition open to the general public.
Complementing the scientific content presented at the Minerallium, this new format will invite residents of Saint-Malo and visitors to the “corsair city” to freely explore the building’s lobby, which will host, for this occasion, an art project featuring paintings and photographs by local artists that help us (re)discover water—this element that surrounds us and connects us in countless ways.
The Water Cycle as Seen by Contemporary Artists
Throughout history, artists have been fascinated by water in all its forms. And for good reason: what could be more beautiful and mysterious than this fluid substance, ever-changing as it flows? Do we not liken the rush of a river to the flow of our tears, the waves to life’s trials, and the abyss to the depths of the soul?
But while it serves as an inexhaustible “source” of inspiration capable of illustrating the entire spectrum of human emotions through the variety of forms it takes, the resource it represents remains nonetheless vulnerable.
“The Water That Binds Us” invites visitors to rediscover the water cycle through a selection of paintings and photographs by artists Alison Bigourie, Nicolas Chateau, Juliette Rebour, and Franco Salas Borquez. Like water as it flows and travels through its great cycle, the exhibition is organized around a central structure that winds through the center of the building’s lobby.
Featured Artists
Franco Salas Borquez’s paintings take us on an immersive journey out to sea. His monumental works inspire a sense of humility in the face of the natural authority of this environment, which he depicts in both realistic and abstract ways, leaving each viewer free to imagine their own connection to it.
Alison Bigourie’s photographs, most of which are from her “Rocks” series, capture the beauty and raw essence of the elements: the ocean, rocks, seaweed…
Passionate about travel, nature, and photography, Juliette Rebour and Nicolas Chateau capture their images during the many journeys they undertake in France and abroad.
The works are interspersed with scientific information—to be discovered or rediscovered—as well as a few lines of poetry, inviting reflection, escape, and hope.

- The tour begins on the hour. Anyone arriving late will not be admitted.
- Parking is available at 29 Franklin Roosevelt Avenue (see map opposite). The gate will be open for cars. You can then walk to the Roullier Endowment Fund.
